There is no precise information regarding Saint Aureliano; he was probably a Roman soldier who was martyred in Rome, and whose remains were transferred to the church of Santa Maria ai Monti. According to some popular beliefs, however, he was martyred in Grottammare, near the Oasi di Santa Maria dei Monti.
Her feast day is celebrated the week after Easter, and during these celebrations the usual tranquillity of the Oasis of S. Maria dei Monti is interrupted by a riot of singing, games, music and gunfire, accompanied by copious amounts of drink.
