Metamorfosi

by Pericle Fazzini

In the very central Piazza Fazzini stands the sketch for an unbuilt work, the Kennedy Monument, later renamed *Metamorphosis* by Fazzini himself. Donated by the artist to Grottammare in 1984, the work consists of a bronze stele approximately three and a half metres high, split lengthways, which bears witness to Fazzini’s work in the direction of material subtraction. At the top of the work, on its west-facing side, the outline of John Fitzgerald Kennedy can be discerned, hinted at within the voids of the sculpture.
